Peterborough Petes: the Memorial Centre and a long hockey history

Peterborough's story begins in 1956

The Petes arrived in Peterborough in 1956 with a Montreal Canadiens affiliation. The club's early identity included the TPT sponsor initials; the familiar maroon-and-white look followed in 1974-75. A major national milestone came with the 1979 Memorial Cup championship. These dated chapters help explain the different sweaters seen in old Petes photographs.

Peterborough Memorial Centre is the home rink

The Memorial Centre links the team's early Peterborough history with today's home schedule. It is a different building from Oshawa's Tribute Communities Centre, even though both names can appear close together in a Petes–Generals series. Use the venue on the actual fixture rather than relying on the word 'Centre'.
