Owen Sound Attack: the Bayshore and the Platers connection

The Attack name followed the Platers

The Guelph Platers moved to Owen Sound for 1989-90 and initially kept the Platers name. The club became the Attack in 2000 and won the OHL championship in 2011. That history explains old Owen Sound Platers references, but it does not make the present Guelph Storm and Owen Sound Attack the same club.

The Bayshore is a specific Owen Sound landmark

Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre is the Attack's home along Georgian Bay. Opened in 1983, it is named for the Hall of Fame goaltender Harry Lumley. Fans often shorten the name to the Bayshore. Recognizing the full name makes the venue easier to identify on a printed schedule or an away opponent's calendar.

Barrie and the home-stand pattern

Owen Sound's 2026-27 announcement sets out a Rivalry Week series with Barrie and a late-October run of home games. A cluster of dates in the same month is useful for comparing visits, but it does not mean all neighbouring dates are at the Bayshore. Check the Home/Away label for each row.

Yes. The club kept the Platers name after arriving from Guelph and adopted Attack in 2000.
